My wife is currently an in patient at Riverside ward receiving treatment for gallstones. Yesterday morning she was transferred to Hammersmith hospital where she underwent an unsuccessful endescopic procedure to remove stones lodged in her bile duct. She was returned to Charing cross Riverside ward where she spent four hours in absolute agony before being finally put on intravenous morphine. The actual registrar said "yes I thought you would be in extreme discomfort" So why didn't they organise pain relief earlier? Also the Consultant this morning said that they would favour a conventional operation to remove the stones and the bladder but because it's a slightly more complicated procedure, thinks the trust won't allow it.In the meantime my wife's bile duct remains blocked and the longer this goes on, the more chance of damage to her liver and pancreas. This is a really stressful situation that could be resolved more easily. Can anyone out there help?!
