"Vulnerable adults should be treated quickly"

My mum was brought to

A & E , by ambulance with her carers no later than 9 am at the weekend. She is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's and can be very aggressive with regards to her personal care, being examined etc. This was made very clear to the hospital staff and was fed back to the consultant in charge. There were difficulties , due to her condition, in getting more than one lots of blood. However, she was very calm and in good spirits. The staff were very pleasant I hasten to add.

Unfortunately, it was 1:45 pm before mum got to see a doctor. By this time she was extremely agitated and we had had to stop her from leaving the building three times. It was a nightmare for family. By the time that she was seen , she was in no mood to allow any examination and we took her back to her home , highly stressed after being no better off from taking her to the hospital in the first place. There needs to be a better system in place for dealing with such vulnerable patients.
