"an oasis of calm"

About: Solihull Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I had an appointment on Tuesday 30th August to have a breast lump examined. Despite the usual anxiety which occurs from the first contact with the clinical nurse, I seemed to enter an oasis of calm ( in fact I actually said that to the nurse). After the initial formalities of questions I was then examined and was told that it could be a cyst. this was followed by a mammogram. Here again, the nurse was so considerate and gentle as the spot was extremely tender and sore. From there I had Ultra-sound with a Dr. Michael. Once again, very gentle, everything explained of what he had found-an inflamed cyst. When I asked if it would be aspirated he said he could do it if I wanted him to and I agreed. With the fluid gone, the tenderness was gone and I came away from the hospital, thinking -Where would I have got better or more thorough treatment? ?

Thank you all in the Breast Clinic Team - you were superb.

Dear toptwo

Thank you for your comments posted regarding your patient experience with the Breast Care Team at Solihull Hospital.

I am so pleased to read that you found the deparment to have a calming atmosphere, and that the nurse you saw was very professional, kind and gentle in her assessment, as well as the Doctor you saw being kind and considerate and ensuring that you were treated quickly to bring you relief.

I will be thrilled to ensure that your feedback is highlighted to the Clinical Lead Nurse and the Clinical Lead Consultant for Breast Care Services, who will also be delighted to read your feedback and communicate it to the whole team.

I hope that this is acceptable and once again thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback, it is most important to us.

With kind regards

Marie Helebert
