"Getting an appointment would nice"

About: Kettering General Hospital

I have been trying to get an appointment for my son in the Allergy clinic since May 2016 after being told he is on the waiting list and an appointment will be sent out in the post, I have had reminders that I haven't booked the appointment even though we are on the waiting list.

Having waited 3 months and have heard nothing I have re contacted the hospital to find out when an appointment will be given.

The appointments have been allocated up to December but they do not have any more and my Son is still on the waiting list.

What ever happened to only waiting 18 weeks from the time of referral at this rate it will be 8 months and counting by the time an appointment is sent if he's lucky enough to get one in the new year.

Surely if there is such a waiting list then more specialist staff should be employed.

I appreciate this probably is not possible or has cost implications however surely a child that has allergies (some of which we don't know what sets him off-hence the referral) has been given epi pens but still can not be seen by a specialist surely this is right.

I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you have experienced in getting a timely appointment for your son. The Paediatric Allergy Service is immensely busy, a number of additional clinics are being held to see patients as early as possible. If your son has not yet received an appointment please contact the Service Manager for Paediatrics via the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01536 493305/493306 for further assistance.

Kind regards
