Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn of your difficulty in trying to contact the fracture clinic at Manchester Royal Infirmary and for the frustration this has caused you.

The Deputy Directorate Manager for Trauma and Orthopaedics at Manchester Royal Infirmary explains that the department has experienced some telephony issues with call answering. She is very sorry that on the occasion you rang you were left waiting for such a significant time with no explanation for the delay, as this is unacceptable. It is difficult to say on this occasion if the delay was due to a technical fault or your call not being picked up by a member of staff. She would like to reassure you that a new rota system has now been put in place to ensure that there is always a staff member present to answer calls between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm and the technical fault has been reported for investigation.

On investigation of your concern it was found that the number advertised on the NHS Choices website for the fracture clinic was incorrect. The number shown was for an unmanned line, therefore calls were unfortunately unanswered. We have asked for the number to be changed on the website. The correct number, should you still need to contact the department, is 0161 276 5059.

If you would like to discuss your concern with us in more detail, please feel free to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
