"10 weeks later we are no nearer to a diagnosis"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus

(as a relative),

My husband has waited now nearly 6 weeks for x-ray results and they still are not back even following a 4 week wait initially for an appointment. Our GP assures that these have been chased and we were advised that originally it would be 7-10 days for the results and now 10 weeks later we are no nearer to a diagnosis and my husband struggles to get out of bed every day with the pain. Due to a long term condition he cannot take regular painkillers and therefore having to rely just on paracetemol whilst its diagnosed is compounding the issues. I feel the NHS is great in many ways but also lets down so many and over the past few years, this is just one example.

I’m sorry to hear of the unacceptable wait your husband is experiencing and for the distress caused. This isn’t good enough. Please get in touch with me by phone on 0115 924 9924 ext 65063 or email andrew.steggles@nuh.nhs.uk and I will escalate this with the department on your behalf when I have your husband’s details so that we can update you as fully as we can on what will happen next and when.

Kind regards

Andrew Steggles
