"I didn't do it to myself"

I fell down some stairs recently and hurt my leg. I thought it was ok at first, but after a few hours I decided to get it checked due to the pain and the difficulty in walking.

I got to the hospital where I thought all was going fine until the person assessing me saw some scars on my arm. Without even asking me, I felt like they assumed that these were self-inflicted (which they were, but they are old and to be honest I think they could have been from anything for all this person knew). In my opinion, this person then proceeded to accuse me of my leg being self-inflicted. No matter how many times I explained that it wasn't, that it couldn't be as I used to cut and burn, bruised or whatever myself, I felt like this person was adamant that it was. Eventually I felt like I couldn't cope with this anymore and so I left.
