"A+E - Fantastic response - MAW could have been..."
About: Queen's Medical Centre / Accident and emergency Queen's Medical Centre Accident and emergency Nottingham NG7 2UH
Hello I would like to say my thanks whilst I was sat in the green area at ED when suddenly my episodes got the better off me the spasms and seizures.
I am grateful to all the nurses and doctors, including a patient who alerted the ED staff when I spazzed out.
I was given immediate oxygen as I can remember when coming round. I was then taken to the high grade area and had my bloods and obss taken etc. Whilst being observated I noticed the A+E ward was very busy but the staff showed alot of concern and asked me questions about my condition and seizures and had a good conversation about this. I was then taken to the Medical Assessment Ward in which the nurses showed good consideration, I know I could hardly speak as I was post - ictal, in pain and very confused I apologize, but the nurse understood and showed great consideration. My muscles and body still have spams and weakness with pain, I am due to see Neuro. Thank you to the Junior Doctor who asked me a series of questions about my health and seizures including muscle spasms. My main concern are the MAW consultants who came round in the morning, ok my previous record shows Non Epileptic Attack. I don't think this is the case at all and I should have been transferred to the Neuro Assessment Ward so they could have a look at my condition and they could talk to me about how my condition is affecting me. It appeared the MAW consultants seemed less concerned and when they were examining my stomach and talking at the same time with the other consultant how am I supposed to respond or talk :D My friend I am sorry but you some what failed to notice the weakness in my muscles and pain I had although pain killers was administered to me, in my report it shows I had a chondroid like lesion or fibro dysplasia affecting right lateral recess. At the same time if the consultant had reason this was affecting me why wasn't I transferred to Neuro Assessment for further investigation? I am not refusing treatment, I am fairly satisfied but more needed to be done, please understand what is needed next time.
