About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Dermatology

Since being referred to Medway Dermatology last April very little progress has been made. An initial appointment with a nurse was cancelled on the day due to staff sickness. I have since seen three different dermatologists and have had two sets of blood tests and two biopsies. No explanation was given as to why the tests had to be repeated. Getting the blood tests was difficult because my GP said they couldn't understand what tests were required due to different forms that are apparently used by different hospitals. I had to go to three different places before the second round of blood tests could be done (my GP, Gravesend Hospital and finally Darenth Valley Hospital. Why can't Medway Dermatology do the tests themselves?!? The most recent dermatologist clearly had not read my notes, because they asked whether I had lupus (I have not had a diagnosis yet) and asked me to chase up the blood tests I had a month before as the consultant did not have them. I phoned the phlebotomy and pathology depts at Darenth Valley who told me they had sent the results but said if the dermatologist gave them their email address, they would email them. I then phoned the Borough Green clinic to be told them did have the results after all!
