"One off sharps disposal"

My 7 year granddaughte who has JIA and tequires weekly injectionsr has been down to stay for a holiday and I had one of her spent syringes to dispose of so I rang my GP surgery to ask if I could bring it in to dispose of in their sharps bin but, no, apparently I can't do that but they said no and gave me a number for Cornwall Council's sharps disposal unit. I rang the number only to be told they don't collect single syringes and suggest I ring my GP and ask for a sharps disposal bin, put the spent syringe in it and then call the Council back and they'll send a van round to collect it.

No wonder people just wrap them up and put them in the bin and little wonder our NHS and Council's have massive financial problems! If you expect people to dispose of needles responsibly then don't make it so difficult to do so. It's totally ridiculous. Had I been a drug addiction would I have been turned away then? I doubt it!
