What I liked
i was booked into the dtc for a minor operation, the pre op nurses were fantastic, happy and really made you feel relaxed and answered all questions i had, they really were of a good standard and i will praise them
What could be improved
the care i recieved when i woke up was bad, so bad i will never have another operation in my life again, i woke up in pain and told a nurse and a dr that but was ignored, up on the ward i had to beg for a drink of water and was left to bleed badly from my nose for several hours, before someone rang for a dr, i was even asked by a nurse why i hadnt eaten my dinner when it was plain obvious that i was drowning in my own blood and that noone could eat in that state!
it just seemed like noone cared so i asked to go home where i could at least have some pain relief and care from people who cared about me, on my leaving the hospital, the dr never came, i was promiised he would, so i never knew what my instructions were to do at home, i was also in extremme pain yet had no painkillers prescribed, as i write this i am crying as i am still in shock at my expereince and i am still in awful pain, i wish i had never had the op at all
Anything else?
i have since spoken to several people with regards to this and most people are concerned at how this hospital got its ratings, i heard that it was underestaffed when i went in as staff had to take all anual leave before april, if this is the case then operations should not go ahead, i am so shocked by my expereince, a hospital that reduces a 38 year old woman to tears and leaves her in bad pain when there is no need is not a good hospital
