"Over 2 weeks and no x-ray results back"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

My GP sent me for a chest x ray at Reading Royal Berks Hospital as she discovered a lump on my chest.. It's now over 2 weeks and still no results back and I'm still in pain I've spoken to GP receptionist who says they should have been back by now and that I'll just have to wait a bit longer

Why does it take so long? ?

The Radiology Department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital aims to complete all GP chest X-ray reports within 7 days of referral. Whilst this has proved challenging during the summer holidays due to annual leave, a two-week wait for a report is unusual. You should either contact our Patient Relations Team at the hospital (0118 322 8338 or talktous@royalberkshire.nhs.uk) or ask your GP to contact Radiology directly in order that the results can be expedited.
