"Urology dept and lack of toilets."

About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital / Urology

I visited this dept on the 24/08/16 and expected to have my procedure done in a same sex waiting area to find it mixed and a male in the waiting room burping ,farting and stuffing himself with food. The toilet in the waiting area had a lock that stuck and because there was male also booked in the staff were flapping about use of toilets after the procedure as he needed to use the same one as the females. He seemed to be blamed for booking himself in on a females session by staff and causing the problem when clearly this was an admin issue. Given that there appeared to be several empty rooms around the endoscopy area only one toilet was available. I found myself waiting with three other patients and a high demand of the use of one toilet. A very uncomfortable experience while waiting as I could hear the male patient groaning in pain. Luckily the doctor and nurse were very professional ,however the basic facilities and mixed sex waiting rooms make for a poor experience.
