I presented with chest discomfort on a Saturday having been taken by ambulance from Dr Piper house. A spell in ED to run tests then admitted to the general ward and on to Cardiac Care. I was seen by the consultant on Sunday, had my angio on Monday which confirmed blocked arteries and I was advised I would be transferred to James Cook for stent treatment. I was transferred on the Tuesday lunchtime, had my procedure the same day and was home by 10pm. As a 56 year old person who keeps fit and does not smoke this came as a real shock and was worrying to say the least. I found all of the staff who looked after me during my short stay to be professional, compassionate and caring, nothing was too much trouble. The consultants explained everything in detail and answered all my questions, the CCU team and angio team went out of their way to reassure me as to proceedures etc. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff , particularly the Cardiac team who I found to be some of the most caring hospital staff I have ever met. My thanks to all staff, and those at JC for helping me through a difficult event in my life. Now on road to full recovery and indebted to the Memorial team .
