I attended for an Angiogram last Friday, (the 18th September) I made friends in the waiting room with another gentleman who was having the same test done that afternoon. I was shown in to the day ward by the sister in charge, and it was also earlier than my actual appointment time. I was then shown to a bed, given a gown, and was admitted and all the relevant paperwork done. All the staff worked extremely hard, and especially the nurses. In the operating suite ad two friendly nurses who put me at my ease. In the end I didn't even need the sedation, as I was fairly relaxed! Although I found it a little painful, it was all done very efficiently. I was given lunch around 5pm, and regularly checked until it was time for my discharge.
The only problem of the whole visit was the hospital transport not turning up, and I was still in the department when it was due to shut at eight pm. The nurses arranged me alternative transport, and went above and beyond to make sure i was sent home safely. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for this, especially the staff nurse on duty. i have written to the chief executive regarding the transport problems, but every praise must be given to the nursing staff.
"Excellent care at the cardiac suite"
