"Stoma Nurses after Ileostomy"

About: Royal Derby Hospital

Recently, I underwent surgery that meant i would have a temporary stoma. As you can imagine, the effects psychologically can be challenging. That is why I am extremely grateful for the aftercare support the Royal Derby Hospital provides. The stoma nurses are fantastic and I cannot express this enough. They not only ensure that you are competent in the practical side of managing a stoma, but also the emotional side that comes with it. They listen and they care. Each time my stoma nurse visits, they are patient and understanding and ensures that I am coping ok. I am fortunate to have met two of the other nurses who have the same work ethic. They all have work mobiles and encourage you to ring with any issues, even if it is just to have a chat. They really are a credit to the hospital and to the NHS as a whole.

Many thanks for taking the time to share your kind comments with us.

I have forwarded your feedback to the management team for General Surgery, who will cascade this to the Stoma Care Nurses.

Kind Regards,
