When I moved house and I was quickly asked to be seen by a member of the diabetic team at Lister Hospital as I am a type 1 diabetic. This condition has always been a struggle for me and was wary of seeing a new team.
I am seen by a kind and caring nurse who has gone above and beyond to help me in improving my diabetes.
They have kept me on track since I came to Lister. They have made arrangements for courses I have needed in working towards an insulin pump that I have been working for, for many years. After the hard work and the guidance they have given me I am now just a few weeks away from achieving my diabetic goal of retaining an insulin pump.
I cannot explain how much this nurse has helped me, always there to listen, guide and encourage me to work hard for my future health. I could not have done any of this without them. I have been managed by many different nurses in various different hospitals in Surrey before the move to Hertfordshire and no one has provided me with this level of patient care.
I owe this nurse everything! My health has improved, my quality of life is better and I am now passionate and proud to be a diabetic.
I hope that every diabetic has a nurse like mine a really valued member of this trust and I hope they are recognised for their achievement in patient care.
"Excellent Patient Care!!!"
