"I attended my GP practice after ..."

What I liked

I attended my GP practice after a "stroke like" incident that morning. I was examined and asked to attend Derriford Medical Assessment Unit immediately.

Though it is obviously a busy area of the hospital and waiting is a big part of what happens I was examined thoroughly and saw several doctors who all treated me well.I had to wait around and tests were done over a two day period. However this is obviously because urgent patients are coming in all the time and doctors of whichever specialty are having to prioritise. Upon examination for the incident that had happened to me some other issues came to light and the doctor and their team looked into these.

It was all quite scary but I felt that the staff did all they could for me at that stage. I was given information and able to have some input. They have arranged some follow up and I have confidence in them.

What could be improved

There was only one nurse dealing with a large group of us on the ward and it felt as though at times they were stretched a little thin.
