"My 88 year old Aunt is currently ..."

About: Cirencester Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

My 88 year old Aunt is currently a patient on Coln Ward. I took her in as an emergency via the Minor Injuries Unit on Friday afternoon with pneumonia. The Unit was exceptional from the minute we approached the reception desk to final transfer to the Ward. She was treated immediately and appropriately with the highest standard of care and urgency. There was an obvious atmosphere of a close team working well together but with humour and great understanding. I had a dreadful experience in Cheltenham Hospital under similar circumstances with my mother some time ago and the quality of care could not be more different in every way. I am a trained nurse myself so I do know how things should and can be done. Cirencester Minor Injuries Unit is ticking all the right boxes. So far Coln ward too is very impressive. Well done Cirencester Hospital and thank you.

What could be improved

Xray staff did not appreciate or seem to care how ill my Aunt was. After her chest xray we were told to go home and she would get the result in a few days. I was unhappy about this so took her to Minor Injuries where she was treated as an emergency and admitted.
