As a member of my Family was suffering a mental health depression and became very low but would not go for support but did go to the Gp there were occasions when I needed help and advice of how to handle it and encourage them. The GP service in Seaton were exceptionally good and supportive and able to give me confidence to take the appropriate steps to help my family member and know what to do in a crisis.
I found that the Local CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse) service in Honiton not useful at all. We need to remember about the carers who need advice and not get hung upon confidentiality but be able to respond to scenarios and delay anxiety.
The Crisis management team were Excellent in RDE and East Devon who actually checked to see which route I had taken when I asked for advice and make sure I had got help. I think it was Alison and although they could not attend for 24 hrs they checked the options I was going to take and gave me confidence to carry on and with such excellent communication and empathy skills.
The Partnership Trust liaison team were excellent and the Senior member was very skilled and managed to help my family member and ourselves to know where we were going and what to do next.
I have great admiration for Mental Health Service having worked for the NHS for many years I have also valued their opinions but never more than today.
