"Poor waiting time"

About: United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

A family member of mine visited the hospital in February and has since been waiting for angioplasty surgery. Six months later he his still waiting. He can't now walk, his leg and foot are extremely painful and swollen. After complaining to the NHS he was seen at the hospital on 12/8/16. After the driver test it was found that he has a 9" blockage so it was confirmed that he needs the surgery. Another week has gone by and he is in absolute agony. Surely he hasn't got to wait up to 18 weeks as he really ca't cope with the pain. He's not even eating properly now, the weight is dropping off him and with the effect it's having on his sleep, I don't think he can cope much longer.

Dear anonymous,

I am really sorry to hear of your relative’s issues, and accept that any delay in these circumstances is a worry.

I am not able to comment on the specific reasons for this delay without more details of your relative. However I would suggest that, if he is still waiting for a date for his surgery, that he, or you on his behalf, contacts the Trust’s PALS team on 01522 707071.

They will be able to update you on the current position and hopefully put your mind at rest.

Regards,

Sharon Kidd, Patient Experience Manager
