"Unsatisfactory"

About: Witney Community Hospital

Upon arriving at witney miu i filled out the necessary form and took a seat, I am a patient person but i felt that 2 and a half hours without being seen whilst people who arrived an hour after me were being seen before me was a bit beyond being patient. I asked the receptionist after 2 hours roughly how long it would be until I was to be seen and their response was that I would be seen soon and i was next after the people being seen, so I waited and waited and other people continued to be called instead of me until I eventually gave up after two hours and forty five minutes. I feel as it wasnt especially busy and there weren't many people waiting when I arrived this shouldn't have happened. Due to this I am leaving my fractured foot untreated.

Dear Anon

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback with regards to your visit to Witney MIU and the length of time you waited to be seen and eventually gave up, I am sorry to have read this.

I will share your feedback with the manager for the service and please do not hesitate to contact PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) on 0800 328 7971 if you wish to discuss anything in more detail.

I also hope you have now received treatment for your fractured foot.

Kind regards

Sarah Woods

Dear Anon,

Thank you for telling us your story re Witney MIU, I'm sorry you felt you had to leave without treatment.

Witney Community Hospital hosts at least 3 different services on a Saturday (1) MIU (2) GP out of hours and (3) Radiology, all of which share the same waiting room. Although the MIU team call patients based on the order the arrive (with the odd exception of obviously serious injury or small children) the fact that other clinics are running and also call patients from the same waiting room can often cause confusion and some patients feel they are being seen out of turn. I fear this might have happened to you. Regardless, I am sorry this was not made clear to you.

More importantly, I am keen to address the issue of your foot and, if you still require treatment, I would like to invite you to call me directly on 07725 009999 so I can personally ensure you receive timely examination and treatment at a MIU of your choice.

Best wishes, John
