I arrived at Goring Hall at my appointed time and was taken to my room.I was in for a lumbar discectomy.. After a few minutes I had the usual people expected a nurse to do my obs, physiotherapist telling me what was expected of me after the operation.
Got into the gown had the compression socks and paper pants on. I was ready and waiting to go down when in comes the so called director of nurses to tell me that people only see them when there is bad news and my operation was cancelled. The director of nurses told me that the surgeon was unwell. I have since then, which is over a month been trying to get another date for my operation, each time being told that my surgeon was still unwell. I have since received a letter from the surgeon and because of an internal argument they were not allowed to finish the list for that day. Basically Goring Hall had lied to me and disregarded the fact I was in terrible pain and decided to ban the surgeon from the operating theatre. The upshot is I now have to start the process again because they no longer have a spinal surgeon. Where is the duty of care and the endeavour to make my stay as pleasant as possible. I didn't get my operation because of a silly he-said-she-said argument. Very unprofessional.
