What could be improved
My elderly aunt was a patient at the hospital. I was contacted on a Thursday evening to say she was very poorly and may not survive the night. She had rallied before and as no more news was forthcoming, we rang on Saturday morning to find out how she was doing to be told that she had died on Thursday evening. No one had contacted us! Disgusting. Made a complaint to PALS on 22 March and was told someone would ring us (!) but heard nothing from them as yet - 26 March.
Anything else?
New hospital, but no thought given to enough car parking, same poor work ethic from the staff as the old Oldchurch Hospital. Seems the same poor practices have been transferred to the new building. Poor information -bereavement office closed at weekends - weren't told we needed an appointment to register a death even though the process takes no more than 5 minutes. Soon need an appointment to die.
