I have downloaded a plan of Maidstone Hospital Car Parking facilities and find after a count that the car parking is weighted severely towards the staff.

Although it is necessary for staff to be accommodated, it must be borne in mind that patients are there for treatment.

They have varying conditions and, for the most part are not in the best of health whereby, most of the staff are in a reasonable state of fitness and could walk or whatever..

Also, a bus service was originally provided to transport staff to and from. Pembury.

This is now available for thee general public but, from observation, it runs half empty at the best of times and possibly is financed by the MTW

The proportion of staff spaces to patients is two thirds to staff and one to patients.

There is something not quite logical about his state of affairs.

Thank you taking time to share your observations around the parking facilities at Maidstone Hospital.

The issue of parking availability is a challenging one and there are a number of influencing factors.

In the main, staff cars are parked on site for longer periods of time than vehicles bringing patients to the hospital and we try to account for this with the distribution of parking spaces.

We do encourage staff to use public transport or walk to work as much as possible. but this is not always practical.

The majority of staff will complete their day's work at one site or the other and we try to minimise the movement of staff between sites during the day, as this reduces the amount of time they are actively undertaking their duties.

However, it is important to provide the bus link between the hospitals to support anyone needing to travel between the two locations.

We have shared your comments with our Estates and Facilities team for their consideration as part of their routine service reviews.
