I was most impressed with the emergency admission ward nurses and doctors. I was sent by my doctor with suspected pleurisy. after extensive tests and a scan. It was discovered that I had a fractured rib. The staff and Doctors on the admission ward were very kind and thorough. Because I had past history of breast cancer and the scan 'revealed an abnormality in my clavicle and a fractured fib It was recommended that I have an isotope bone scan. I then had to attend the breast clinic. it was a very anxious time for me and my family. In the few minutes I was there The consultant I saw told me there was no cancer ( big big relief ) but two old fractures. I assured them that no way was the fracture old. But they shrugged it off and discharged me. So where do I go from here? ?
The thing that disappointed me was the indifference of the doctor in the breast clinic. They didn't talk to me or advise me. Just said that as I had been discharged from the City they were discharging me. I wasn't in their room a minute. While I was pleased that I hadn't got bone cancer It took me a few days to realise that if my bones were fracturing I needed follow up advice not just hung out to dry.
