"Awful"

All I can say that the contrast on which ward you are allotted, and it is a lottery as to where you might end up due to bed shortage, will depend on the level of care the patient receives and also the courtesy to relatives and visitors. The level of care on Eleanor Hobbs ward was awful and some of the staff were abrupt and rude and whilst asking polite questions about your loved one you were made to feel that you were putting them out. On one occasion when I phoned to ask how my relative had been the night before the phone was put down before I had finished the conversation. An awful experience.

In contrast the staff on the critical unit were so caring and interactive I cannot praise them enough.

I am aware that this unit is more on a one to one basis and I appreciate the level of care is more dedicated, but the whole experience for both patient and visitors is of a different level. It came across that for the staff on the cortical care unit it was a caring vocation.On Helena Hobbs for some staff it was an inconvenice. I really hope as a local resident I do not end up in this ward and hope that the other wards do not operate on the same way.
