I would not reccomend Barnsley hospital maternity services based on my own experience. I did not feel supported at all by the midwives I came across - that was a lot of midwives due to the lack of continuity of care. The culture seemed to be more one of tick boxes rather than individualised care. I never felt like anyone saw me as a person. My views were not valued or respected. The midwives often told me what I am allowed or not allowed to do. There was no willingness to engage in open, informed discussions. It was very clear that my views and concerns were not important. The lack of support made the birth of my child harder than it needed to be and has led to a longer recovery.
I feel let down by this department.
