"All the staff were helpful and ..."

About: The James Cook University Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked All the staff were helpful and efficient but more than this they engaged in easy conversation with patients which promoted a friendly and caring atmosphere. More importantly, the clinical competence of the staff was impressive. Having spent time in other hospitals I was particularly grateful for the professionalism of the nursing staff. Their approach combined clinical ability with human warmth which provides an excellent context for recovery. What could be improved? Well to be petty, leaving the south car park after 4.00 p.m. takes about 45 minutes.

Response from The James Cook University Hospital

Dear Elizabeth

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences on the NHS Choices website, your comments are greatly appreciated. Communication with patients, relatives and carers is of paramount importance as we appreciate a hospital attendance/admission can be a very anxious time. Our staff endeavour to make people feel as comfortable as possible and I am delighted this has been your experience with us.

I am sorry you experienced delay when leaving the hospital from the south car park. Car parking and travel around the site at JCUH is continuously being reviewed and assessed and, therefore, your feedback is extremely useful. I will ensure your comments are passed on to the management team who are looking at car parking/travel.

Best Wishes

Rachel Gaffney
