"Brilliant Service"

About: Hexham General Hospital

On Saturday afternoon on the 29th July 2016 I unfortunately had to visit the Urgent Care Department at Hexham General Hospital after falling off a motorbike breaking my arm.

I would like to thank the staff on duty that day for the professional and caring way I was dealt with. I was triaged within 5 minutes of checking in and within the space of less than an hour I had 3 xrays taken and a diagnosis of a hairline fracture of my left arm. I was discharged with a sling and a promise of a follow up phone call from the consultant (saving a trip next day to confirm if further treatment was necessary or not). As promised, 10am the next day- Sunday - I recieved a follow up phone call. (This is a brilliant idea, it must save you as well as the patient so much time to be able to confirm diagnosis over the phone, i wish our local hospital would consider doing that). I cannot praise the hospital enough for my treatment and level of service I received. As a visitor from the Isle of Man, we were only staying in Hexham until Monday, it would have been difficult for us to attend a follow up appointment. Please pass on my grateful thanks to the staff on duty on that day. (N.B re star ratings- as I visited as an out-paitent I can't mark you on your same-sex accomodation).

Dear Judith,

Sorry to hear about your recent motorbike accident, I hope your arm is healing nicely.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience at Hexham hospital with us, I will forward your wonderful review to our urgent care team. It’s great to know that you were looked after in such a prompt manner and you were able to be discharged so quickly. I am especially pleased to know that you received a follow-up call from one of our consultants to check that you we’re managing with your sling and we’re given any reassurances you might need.

Hopefully your visit to Hexham was not hampered too much by your accident.

All the best,

Annie
