"How to raise your hopes to have them crushed"

Imagine you are in a general psychiatric ward losing weight each day with the offer of an eating disorder bed in Glasgow.

You are desperate not to go to Glasgow which is 400 miles from you home.

Good news, a team from the Cygnet Hospital are going to come and meet you to evaluate whether you are suitable for their ward.

They arrive two hours late increasing the levels of anxiety significantly.

They are impersonal asking lots of very direct questions.

Remember they hold your future care in their hands, their recommendation can move you from Glasgow to an Ealing.

You are terrified you may say the wrong thing........and then its over........off they go - 'you will hear from us when we have reviewed your case' - that was Friday - nothing over the weekend......nothing on Monday..........Tuesday - great news........we are the right kind of patient and will be put on their waiting list - There was never a bed!!!!!!!!

They have no idea how this effected our very sick vulnerable daughter.
