"My experience"

About: St Cadocs Hospital

(as the patient),

I was brought in to hospital in late April 2016 for a month and two weeks due to my first mania episode. I was given an injection by a member of staff without being seen by a Doctor and without being sectioned. she didn't explain to me what this injection was and I believe that this injection made my illness worse. I have recently discovered that this injection has not been documented in my medical file which deeply concerns me.

The staff treated me poorly, at the beginning of my stay I felt as though I was bullied by some of the staff and was made to feel unwelcome.

One member of staff in particular was very vile in the way she spoke towards me and to other patients. Another staff member took a blood test from me once and said-come on you B***h-as she was trying to get the needle in properly after two attempts. I did actually complain about this to another nurse but she believed that it was untrue and my words were dismissed straight away.

Every time I had to see a Dr there was always strangers in the room, around 5/6 other people who I'v never before, this was frightening to me, I couldn't talk, I barely said anything. I think that the Dr could of at least introduced me to them so it would of been less frightening.

My stay at St Codoc's Hospital has haunted me, I have so many awful memories in they way I was treated. I hope I never have to go back there again.

Some of the staff there are so horrifically unprofessional, I was very surprised to see people like that working in this kind of environment. I do hope that this changes not for myself but for others who are more vulnerable then I am.
