"Hip replacement - my experience."

I have just returned having had a total right hip replacement.

Although I knew I needed the operation, this didn't detract from the fact that I was an extremely nervous patient and was frankly terrified about going through the procedure.

Now I'm home I'm wondering why I felt this.

ALL the staff at the Horder centre were quite fantastic, they listened, they explained clearly what was going to happen and they gave encouragement - there was always a smile on their faces and this resulted in me being reassured and confident as to what was happening.

We've had the promised follow up call and this has helped answer some concerns I had - again it was handled so professionally. I can only speak from my experience but if any one told me they were going to have a hip replacement at the Horder, then I'd say listen to everything they tell you, ask if you're not sure and I'm confident like me they will be looked after with the greatest care.
