"Group Session"

I have struggled with Anxiety issues for some time and was referred to the healthy minds service by my GP. The online referral system was quick and easy to use. I also received my appointment letter quickly. When booking the appointment the staff were very helpful and flexible. The only complaint I have is the lack of communication regarding the type of appointment I would be attending. The letter said it was an initial assessment which I assumed was 1-1. However when I arrived it was a group presentation which I wasn't prepared for. My anxiety issues means I struggle which group situations and if I had known it was going to be this setup I probably would not have attended as I found the whole session uncomfortable. This wasnt the staff members fault they were very informative and helpful during the session it was just the way it was setup in general did not suit me. For a person with anxiety issues to be surprised to be sat in a room of 20 people this was very difficult to deal with and I was completely out of my depth. Attending the appointment in general took a lot for me and this was me thinking it was just going to be 1-1. I think the letter inviting you to the session should give a detailled description of the session you are going to attend so that a person who suffers with anxiety can adequately prepare themselves for the steps they will go through.
