"6 major joint replacements over past 20yrs .All..."

About: Royal Derby Hospital

Felt pre-op intrviews rather repetitive.excellent care on every occasion bar one.I had problems with epidural needle as spine badly affected by arthritis. Asked for and was advised that info re need for me to lie on left side for future epidurals was in notes. At next op obviously not aware of this so politely advised anaesthetist info in noes.Ignored and proceeded to attempt 4 times to insert needle.I became very upset as it seemed they where considering a G/A. Eventually did as asked, needle went in like a dream. During whole procedure I was given no feeling of being other than a body.I am not sure if the person administering epidural was trainee as they had a dr at their side, they discussed the problem without once addressing me.So why this review.I have been left with a patch of irritated and often bleeding area of skin all these yrs later.post op a fellow nurse colleague looked at my back and said they could see 4 puncture marks and bruising.I did say to them both after successful attempt that they should listen to the patient in future but this too was ignored.Every other contact with all departments has been excellent
