I am writing to thank every-one at St Helier involved in my recent care and stay in the hospital. You have an organisation and staff to be proud of.
I visited A&E on the evening of 14th July with shortness of breath and a history of Pulmonary Embolism. The wait was a long one, but we were treated with utmost courtesy and good humour by every one that we saw. I was given Heparin, and asked to go to ACU the following morning.
At ACU again, the treatment was exemplary. From the Receptionist to the Nurse, Scan Operatives and two Doctors that I saw, their approach was professional, understanding, humane, courteous and beyond reproach. I was diagnosed with two blood clots and told what my treatment plan was. Given the very pressurised conditions they work under, I cannot praise them enough.
I was admitted to the hospital, and spent one night on AMU, where, once again, the treatment was faultless. The caring and considerate nature of the nurses was much appreciated, and no trouble was spared to ensure their patients welfare and comfort. I was treated with Heparin and Warfarin. The following morning I was transferred to Mary Moore Ward, where I stayed for four nights.
Again, the care and treatment that I got was superb. The Staff were excellent and cared for every need of their patients. I was particularly impressed with their attention to detail, and their willingness to help older patients eat, drink and keep clean and as healthy as possible. They were kind and considerate and highly professional to all.
The Doctors were very professional and both courteous and polite. I was given a heart echo test, and an ultra-sound on my abdomen and pelvis, to ensure all was well. Very thorough treatment.
I was discharged on Wednesday 20th July, and spent time in the Discharge Lounge, where once again the staff were efficient, polite and helpful. Tea, sandwiches and biscuits were offered, and there was plenty of reading material. A very positive experience.
I would also add that I found the hygiene conditions to be excellent, and the catering standard higher that when I was with you last summer.
To sum up, I would like you to know that every-one that I came into contact with was a credit to the Hospital and it's services. The medical treatment was excellent and I am feeling very much better.
I felt very well cared for and looked after during my stay, and would, once again, thank every-one concerned for everything that they did for me.
Understanding the huge pressures that you all work under I can only say that I am full of admiration for you all.
"Thank you St Helier"
