On Wednesday 20th Aug I fell down my friends' stairs and knew immediately I had broken something in my leg. An ambulance was called and the fantastic service started from that first moment. Every step of the way each staff member from ambulance technician to Senior Consultant introduced themselves and put me at ease through basic human communication. A&E were quick and thorough despite being very busy, all decisions were made with full explanations to me and my husband and my expectations were managed well. The X-ray department had my needs at the forefront of their minds, ensuring I was as comfortable as possible. Orthopaedic doctors were very honest with me but in a considerate manner. Once in Notley ward the nurse care was second to none with nothing being an issue for them. Their teamwork added to the pleasant feeling on the ward and helped to lighten the mood. The team of orthopaedic surgeons who operated on my leg including the anaesthetist were prompt, polite, and communicated everything to me. I honestly can't thank them enough, they all worked hard to make my stay in hospital as quick and as pleasant as it could have been and they all worked incredibly to ensure my holiday was able to go ahead.
