"Daughters visit to Scarborough A&E"

About: Scarborough General Hospital

On Tuesday 9th Aug our daughter tripped on a step whilst coming to our front door. As her foot was very painful and she's eight months pregnant our gp suggested A&E.

Although the dept very busy Sarah was quickly taken up to the maternity ward and fully checked. All was well with the baby so she re-joined A&E to wait for her foot to be examined. We had a fair wait as A&E extremely busy and not many staff. Daughters foot x-rayed and a bone found to be broken. Advised to return to fracture clinic next day to allow Dr time to consult obstetrician regarding loss of Mobility if plaster cast applied.

Sarah was even brought sandwich crisps etc as she hadn't eaten while waiting.

We returned to the fracture clinic at our appointment time where the staff were very professional, efficient and friendly. It was decided to use a walking boot and crutches due to Mobility and DVT and PE. family history. Before discharge Sarah shown how to inject daily dose of blood thinner into her leg and advised to see her local gp to be referred to a local hospital. For anyone waiting it would have been good to be able to buy snacks be crisps or chocolate bar, but only drinks machine. The excellent service we experienced at Scarborough is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

I am happy to hear that staff were professional, efficient and friendly when tending to your daughters fractured foot.

I hope she is recovering well and that everything goes smoothly when baby arrives.

I am very pleased to hear that your daughters experiences were such positive ones and hope that she will receive the same level of care should need our services again.

Kind regards
