"Very impressed with Mount Alvernia"

About: Mount Alvernia Hospital (Guildford)

From my earliest visit to the consultant, through the pre-admission process and then admission for my hip replacement operation, all at the hospital succeeded extremely well in boosting my confidence. The operation itself was carried out in exemplary manner so that it and the aftermath were much less painful and traumatic than I had thought might be the case. The quality of nursing could have been better on one occasion, when I felt that one of my needs could have been dealt with more urgently, but on all other occasions, it was excellent. Staff working in other areas such as reception, catering, domestic, imaging and physiotherapy, were also very caring, diligent and efficient. Before my admission and after my discharge, I was very impressed by the way in which the consultant's PA responded to any queries that I had, promptly calling back when necessary and demonstrating genuine interest in ensuring that I always received everything that I needed. All succeeded very well in making it a stress-free and - although it seems a strange thing to say about having an operation - pleasant experience.
