I've just had 4 days of treatment and it's been incredible! Monday I was taken to A&E by a friend with a dislocated wrist, was taken straight through, filled with painkillers, X rayed, left with my wrist reset and an appointment at the fracture clinic. Tuesday, appointment at the clinic, the consultant tailored the treatment based on what I needed rather than the easiest fix, arranged an operation for the next day. Wednesday, went in for the operation, took a while waiting but there were way higher priority cases in! The anaesthetist realised I was terrified about the general anaesthetic and spent a long time re-assuring me and talking through all the safeguards and procedures till I was confident enough to do it. The surgical team took their time as I was still a little anxious so they kept me occupied and laughing while I was prepped. The recovery nurse did well ignoring the embarrassing comments I was making while I came to. They took me to the ward and the team there were amazing. I didn't keep some food in and they seriously didn't bat an eye-lid. Made sure I was ok and comfy then discreetly cleaned up my mess. I was there for most of Thursday and was seen by nurses, physio, pharmacy, consultant and everyone before they let me go. Everyone I've encountered over the last 4 days has been incredible. Everyone is so caring, even the porters going out of their way to keep people happy! I don't know how such a huge setup runs so smoothly!
