"Ambulatory Care Very Good Service"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

I was referred by A&E to Surgical Assessment, which is part of Ambulatory Care. I was seen precisely at the appointment time, given highly professional treatment, and was quickly on my way. My only gripe is that this Department is not on any hospital map or signage until you actually get there. I was very disappointed with the hospital comment relating to my previous review on the original A&E visit posted on 23 July. I found it patronising. Whilst my issue was minor, I had been told by my GP to attend A&E as he couldn't perform what is apparently a surgical procedure and every walk in centre also told me to go to the A&E. I tried to go elsewhere, anywhere else. So before you get on your high horse about patients with minor issues going to A&E, the Trust needs to ensure it has alternative facilities for patients to get treatment elsewhere. The reason for the delays in treatment was not patient overload, it was taking 20 minutes of paper form filling for each patient and hunt the dressing and drugs exercises. It is mismanagement at Trust level for failing to invest in the very simple technology that would halve the time many patients spend in A&E.
