Recent shortness of breath and general ill health prompted a visit to my GP and immediate referral to Cardiology Department at KGH, blood tests and ECG.
Attended Outpatients appointment with Dr Farooq, a week later at end of July, more Echo /ECG tests and I was immediately admitted to the Coronary Care Unit, via a holding bay.
Well looked after overnight at the wonderful new C C Unit by excellent and inspiring nursing staff and associated colleagues.
Fully informed of the steps of the procedures to follow and the numerous ECG and associated tests.
Prepared for the operation, protocols observed (and all the time I am impressed by the endurance, effectiveness, warmness and unrelenting 'pace' in which NHS colleagues work and thrive during the many hours of their shifts) taken to Theatre, Pacemaker fitted and eventually returned to my C C Unit 2 Bay bed around 2.30 pm.
X Rays are taken, the pacemaker expert technician gives me and my wife clear information and guidance, including the 'dos and donts' and a Patient Identification Card. Then some feverish collating of paperwork as the weekend shift approaches and we are free to go home.
The walk back to the car park was joyous... I did not have to stop, or sit, or gasp... and so to home.
2 weeks have passed and I want to convey my admiration, gratitude, affection and high regard for ALL who participated in such a high quality professional service. THANK YOU... I am not sure the UK values the people, from all around the world, who combine to provide such an Outstanding Service.
Shout their praises and demand fair recognition for this amazing army of people.
