"Fabulous care on the labour ward"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

I have just had my first baby at BRI. I had a low risk pregnancy and was planning on having my baby on the birthing centre. Unfortunately my waters broke before going into labour so I had to be induced on the labour ward. To begin with I was upset that it wasn't as planned but as soon as I arrived at the labour ward I was really well looked after. The midwives who cared for me made me feel so safe and I never felt scared. I had a tough labour and needed to have forceps and an episiotomy to get my baby out. The midwives and doctors made sure that I felt safe and reassured me that my baby was okay and he arrived safely. I was poorly after delivery so was kept on the labour ward until I was well enough to be moved to m3 where I stayed for two nights. The care was much better on the labour ward and I asked to go home earlier than I should have so I could recover at home.

Many congratulations on the birth of your son. Thank you for taking the time to share your story; it can be a really busy time with a new baby. It's lovely to hear that the doctors and midwives made you feel so safe and reassured and that you were so well looked after especially on the Labour Ward. I will share your post with the team, thank you.
