I attended CBT having lived with CFS for many years and also suffering with a prolonged period of anxiety. In truth, I was a little sceptical as to whether CBT would help - but I had reached the point where I was open to trying anything. In the end it was something I wish I'd done years ago. The therapists are fantastic,. The relationship they build with you as a patient enables you to open up easily and work with them. CBT is very much a tool - not a silver bullet - but the therapists ensure that you know exactly how to use the tools they give you to improve your health. It is a two-way process, and if you want to benefit from psychotherapy you have to engage and commit to it - but the team work with you every step of the way.
