"should of gone to Leeds"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

After speaking to 111 I was advised to go to A and E.

On arrival at the reception desk ( no queue) my husband and I had to wait for the receptionist to print something out for a doctor whilst we just stood there (in pain ) ,the receptionist didn't even acknowledge our presence and when the receptionist did speak to us they weren't really interested in what we had to say.The waiting time was brief once we had checked in (waiting area empty )and we were took into triage by a nurse (who did not introduce themself) who did observations. A member of staff (again did not introduce themself )carried out blood tests , no gloves,no hand washing and no alcohol gel used . The member of staff confirmed by date of birth after the blood test was taken so if it was the wrong patient it would of been too late !! The nurse then told us there will be a 3 hour wait to see a doctor and to sit back in the waiting area. I was in too much pain and asked if a bed/trolley was available which there was but would be moved if it got busy. ( got busy with another patient?? What am i ?). A nurse came to do my observations whilst I was on trolley ( again no name ) I asked for painkillers and never got them. The rest of the staff were too busy talking about their private lives ,swearing and slamming bin lids to deal with me. I took it upon myself to provide a sample (the reason why I came in ) for the doctor to see and gave it to the sister who scowled and said why didn't you hand it in at the desk ( no staff to hand it to ) I presume the member of staff threw it away as the doctor that treated me didn't get chance to see it. The doctor that treated me was very nice and reassuring unlike the rest of the staff. I was given some advice by the doctor and some more senior doctors and been refered for urgent tests. I think the staff at dewsbury need to go on training course or find another job because their people skills are non exsistant .

We would be pleased to arrange for this matter to be investigated if the patient would like to contact us directly.
