I have never had good experiences with this hospital in the past. I go to Manchester hospitals only. What a difference they are outstanding. However a relative of mine was on the MAU ward. Not sure what bed my auntie was in. I asked a member of staff that was slouched over the computer. They were very rude and unhelpful. Anyway found my auntie. The ward seemed very unorganised. It was untidy. A patient further down the row rang the emergency bell....it was 5 minutes before someone attended her....lets hope it wasn't a heart attack. My auntie had been in 3 days. Twice we asked for a doctor for an update. Twice we was told one would come and see us. Twice they didn't turn up. Unacceptable. We asked again and told no doctor at weekends ask again on Monday. What?... I have major concerns with the duty of care to patients and relatives. As I work in the cqc environment I really thought the NHS was making some headway but obviously not. When you compare this to Manchester st Marys there is a massive difference. St Marys quote is " the patient comes first each time and every time" and its true....maybe Wigan should work closely with Manchester and really see how a hospital should be run and care that should be given. Your failing Wigan....really bad..
