"Gynae - Hysterectomy"

About: Worthing Hospital

I was being admitted to Worthing Hospital Chanctonbury Suite following a few cancellations for a Hysterectomy>

From the start at Southlands Hospital with Out Patients to the actual day I was always kept informed of what was going to happen by my Consultant.

I arrived at the allotted time at the staff on Chanctonbury were friendly and kept you at ease.

I then met the Anaethetist and the doctor who would be assisting my surgeon who explained everything clearly and precisely to and my husband.

I went to theatre on time, no delays but during surgery there were complications so it took longer.

When I got onto the Ward I was put on ESCU and I can say nothing bad about the day and night staff that were there whilst I was in their care.

My named Nurse was extremely good and they could tell when I needed any medication to help even though I did not really want to take any and just wanted to try to be brave.

My HCA's were also very good and helpful in every way. The consultant took the time out to speak to my husband and daughter, who were waiting and explained in full to them what had happened and that all was well and the reasons for the length of time.

The consultant then came to see me to see how I was, they were genuinely concerned because of the length of time I was in Theatre.

They said they would come to see me in the morning and also did this which I really appreciated.

I could not have been in the hands of a better surgeon.

I was not rushed out of the hospital and the doctors took into the account that only my daughter would be at home so they let me stay in an extra day.

I thank you for this, it put my mind at ease.

I was then transferred to Clapham Ward for one night and the day that I was discharged.

Once again the doctor who came to see me was very pleasant, they explained all regarding my medication and when to start and stop some of the ones I was taking.

The staff on Clapham are also very good in their work and helpful and attentive even the HCA made us chuckle.

If I was to have any surgical needs in the future, I would not hesitate to be referred to Worthing Hospital.
