"Cancer test follow up"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary

Follow up after 7 days. Appointment 2.5 hrs delayed despite being punctual. Poor front of house communication - staff did not even initially make anyone waiting aware that the clinic was running 45 mins late. This moved out to well over an hour with no explanation. More interested in the radio than patient welfare. When cancer outcome is involved the process needs to be much slicker. Anxiety is high enough without such a long delay. I have personally experienced such delays without credible explanations on 3 separate occasions. Not good enough by far ! HRI needs to urgently get it's act together and stop hiding behind excuses of staff shortages .The actual review with the consultant and nurse is OK but the lead up is simply shocking ! The senior management need to review process and vastly improve support to those on the front line.
