What I liked
Maternity unit. The care received in the delivery unit was pretty good.
What could be improved
The follow up care on the post natal ward was not so good during my 5 day stay. The ward seemed to be understaffed which resulted in poor care at times for example, I needed a blood transfusion and at one point had to repeatedly ring the bedside alarm to ensure the blood pack was given to me in good time; was given high dosage of iron tablets without any meds to counter the problems this brings on! This could very easily have been avoided and caused me to be in pain for much longer than necessary and impacted upon the quality of care I could provide my son at home for weeks. All in all, the delivery facility was much superior to the follow up care and I wouldn't recommend the maternity care for this reason.
Anything else?
I would welcome a discussion with the management of the hospital in order to share in more detail my experience.
