"Gynaecological Department - a sickening experience"

About: East Surrey Hospital

I was sent to East Surrey Gynae dept as a fast-track emergency by my GP. at lunchtime yesterday with chronic adenomyosis. This morning, after a cursory glance - eventually - by a doctor at 2.00am, I was sent home by another doctor with paracetamol and told I was in no condition to make decisions about my own body. I'm glad I overheard my very personal, intimate and utterly incorrect handover by the absent night nurse - which took place in front of the whole ward and referred to me as "she". I'm glad their entirely balanced and very professional view of my wellbeing was based on a one-minute highly impersonal appraisal by a tired medic in the middle of the night. I'm glad they ignored the last year of my medical history which has seen me admitted to ER in the States twice because of this condition and be involved in a minor road accident. Next time I haemorrhage in public, I'll stand in that registrar's office and make a very silent mess all over their floor. And give them the paracetamol back in case they get a headache actually dealing with my mess. Invasive, undignified and unprofessional. Thank you, East Surrey Hospital - you really do make me sick.
